The 232,000 square foot, 132-bed patient-centered hospital was unveiled in 2013 and helped satisfy an urgent need for a replacement facility and additional capacity for one of the nation’s top rehabilitation hospitals. All aspects of the hospital were created to provide functional and therapeutic value. The state-of-the-art facility includes an aquatic therapy center, an extensive outdoor therapy garden, and an abundance of natural light throughout patient rooms. The waterfront facility’s design included energy efficient and sustainable building features, which helped it to achieve LEED Gold status.
